Well not completely brand new. Acme is moving into the former ShopRite, that jumped over to the former Pathmark in Whitman Plaza, that just so happens to be next to the former Acme on Oregon and 3rd. This new Acme is expected to open in September.

THE RETURN OF
SELF-CHECKOUTS >>>
Has Acme finally realized what a disaster their stores have been without the self-checkouts? Will we see the self-checkouts return to other locations, especially in the North Jersey stores where the front-ends are chronically understaffed?? Time will tel. If Acme does reinstall them, let's hope it goes a little faster than the removal process which has stretched over the last few years.
Thanks for posting these pictures. Did ACME change the exterior? I don't recall the towers and the modern canopies and brick.
ReplyDeleteNice to see that Albertsons is investing in urban locations in Philly, Boston, and Chicago. I hope Philly gets a couple of deluxe ACMEs like the Jewel stores that have been built in Chicago. They are really quite beautiful, complete with custom decor. Sending positive supermarket thoughts in your direction!!

DeleteNot sure how I missed that. :/
DeleteI was visiting Boston in June and happened to pop into a newly remodeled Star Market and the inside was amazing..and the decor was honestly a lot better than what Acme is doing here (although this store removed the self checkout too, which would have been a great alternative to my 10 minute wait in line). this wasn't the exact store location but the decor was the same: https://tinyurl.com/yay2xzb5
DeleteThe first Star Market to get that décor was the new Chestnut Hill store....

A modified, less deluxe version is showing up in Safeways...

It's a really attractive package...I wonder why Acme hasn't tried using it. I mean, what they are doing is fine, but it's a little sterile. The Star/Safeway decor feels a little more 'exciting'.
DeleteI really love the exterior, I wish some of the shoretowns got this like long beach island and seaside height. The red towers really make it pop
ReplyDeleteLooking closely, I don't think that red or green is permanent. Not too visible in my shot, but they have put up some sort of grey tile on the second tower. I'm assuming that will be the final facade....
DeleteHope Some Of There New York Stores Get Remodeled Inside And Out
ReplyDeleteHopewell Jct., Patterson, Mahopac, have been remodeled on the inside with the Quality Built Decor pkg.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure about other NY stores.
The red and green exterior is no longer. I passed by tonight and it's now all gray. Looks totally different since I was by there Sunday.
ReplyDeleteProduct is being stocked right now. Associates who were at 19th and Oregon for training have been told to report to this store Monday....
ReplyDeleteHere are some interior photos from Google Maps:

Acme Style, the label says, "Former Shiprite", instead of "Former ShopRite". Can you fix the label to Former ShopRite, or remove the Former Shiprite label?
ReplyDeleteDone! Shiprite does have a nice ring to it.
