Remodel Underway at Kenilworth Acme!

A remodel is underway at the Kenilworth Acme! At this point not much has been done other than removing A&P's department signage. Hard to know how much a remodel this will turn out to be. I imagine it's largely just a décor swap. Really hoping they go with the Quality Built package and inject some Acme personality into the place. The painfully generic 3rd version of the Premium Fresh and Healthy package need to be put out of its misery.

I like how Acme used A&P's floor pattern to dictate the layout of the produce cases. A&P took a more random approach.

I'm assuming these are new cases for the fresh fruit.

You can hop over to Dan's flickr collection for tour of this store by clicking here.

Thanks to Dan for alerting us to the remodel at Kenilworth!

  1. The same thing is happening at the Wall store, and I'll send photos soon (as well as everything else that was promised). These aren't full scale remodels but they do feature some new cases, so it's not like Acme is going very cheap. Besides some of these A&P stores are fairly new so I doubt everything needs to be replaced. Why spend money when it's not necessary?

    1. There won't be a lot of new cases going into these stores. Acme didn't pay top dollar for these locations just to rip everything out and start over.

  2. I thought this was one of the stores that really didn't need to be remodeled. Maybe this just means that the more dated stores will get larger-scale makeovers. But hopefully, for this one, they'll at least go with the Quality Built package, because honestly the Premium Fresh & Healthy package would be a real downgrade from the A&P decor.

  3. Yes but Wall is getting all new frozen cases as part of their remodel.

  4. Some painting has been done since Dan's pics were taken. Can anyone tell which decor package it will be at this point?

    1. Looks like Quality Built! Cape May Court House has a very similar color scheme...

  5. I was just at this store, and I was very excited to see that it is going to be Quality Built! A little more painting (white stripes between the different colors on the walls) has been done since the pictures above, and you can see some horrible cell-phone pictures I took here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/142408586@N05/with/26713379486/

  6. Kenilworth has Quality Built, and it looks fantastic! The renovation seems like it's still in progress, but some highlights include the new logo everywhere, cool pictures of local landmarks (including the Rahway Valley Railroad, which ran right past the parking lot years ago), and a much-improved "corner deli" sign! I've posted some hot-off-the-iPhone pictures here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/142408586@N05/albums/72157667875520751

    1. You're right about the much improved corner deli sign! Still kind wish they would use the new oval designed logo there.
