  2. LMLife has come full circle for Kohls Kohls started out as a supermarket chain in Wisconsin. They then started a few combo stores a d then srand alone clothing stores. In the 89s they sold the Supermarkets to A@P , who simply screwed them up They wound up liquidating them five years later .

  3. @Gerald Maynes: Please be careful with your facts: A&P bought the Kohl's food stores in 1983 from Bristish American Tobacco and closed them in 2003, twenty years later. (Not five years, as you wrote--a big difference)

  4. Devon (Wayne), PA Acme location is supposedly going to get an exterior makeover this year. The Kmart that vacated next door is becoming a Target flex-format store along with some other retailer (Target is only taking up 2/3 of Kmart's space)

  5. Kimberton Whole Foods, a local grocer in the Bucks County area, is opening their second, and largest, location in Collegeville, PA at the site of the old Acme. They are set to open in mid-to-late March.

  6. P’s and Q’s: the Collegeville store will be Kimberton Whole Foods 6th location. I live 2 min away from the original location in Kimberton, and it’s a great chain. Especially if you are looking for organic/GF/vegan options.

    1. Whoops! I actually live near one of them... I'm surprised I didn't catch that! You're correct.

  7. Albertsons Companies indroduced a new app for almost all of their stores on 3/20. The only store not included was Jewel Osco. I put a pic on flickr with example of Safeway, Acme, Tom Thumb, and Shaws. The MyMixx and Just For U programs also were merged, which leads me to believe that I can no longer use my SuperCard at Acme.

    1. The graphic of the Acme store in the app is about the most bizarre thing I've ever seen. It doesn't look anything like an Acme, let alone a supermarket. The app updates are a huge improvement. I cashed in a bunch of mymixx coupons two days ago, the first time I've used mymixx in months.

    2. Oof, that's a terrible 'representation' of Acme... or any supermarket. How come Albertsons didn't use their most recently opened stores for each of the brands? I'd like to see a nice Ortley Beach or Barnegat on there.

  8. The Acme (former Superfresh) in Manahawkin is currently being remodeled. I wonder if Acme will keep QB through 2018, or release a new decor along with this store.

  9. Is it just me, or do all the stores that lose their pharmacies and service departments stay open the longest? It seems like all the Acme store closings were stores with service departments still in (Like pharmacy and full-service seafood).
