News Break:

While it doesn't come as a surprise, it did become official late last week. Acme announced it has acquired the A&P stores in Booton, New Jersey and Patterson, New York. Opening dates for each store have not bee announced. In an interesting twist, Acme has also acquired one of A&P's liquor stores in Old Greenwich, Connecticut. Well here's some news we didn't hear about... a fire at the Clayton Acme back in July. I was googling the Clayton store in hopes of finding some news about the store's remodel. Found this video instead. The fire was contained to the trailer outside but the store did suffer some minor damage. The information included with the video on youtube is below...

July 26 2015 around 2320 hours station 41-1 along with 43-1 and 43-3 were dispatched to the ACME for a building fire. Engine 41-13 arrived on scene with a 55 foot trailer and loading dock well involved and impinging on the store. Ladder 41-16 arrived and forced entry to the store to find a smoke condition inside. Crews found only minor extension to the inside of the store. Also assisting and the scene was ladder 26-16 and BLS 82-75. At this time the fire is still under investigation.

Still haven't found any information on the remodel here. Acme had announced last year that Clayton was among several stores that were scheduled for remodels. I would imagine Clayton is getting more of a refresh like the Manasquan store as opposed to a full-scale remodel. Regardless, it will be great to see the drab Neighborhood Market decor replaced with something more colorful.
