I know we are all retail/grocery fans on here, but I don't really think a new grocery store opening is a real newsworthy thing for the majority of people.
It could also be that they are waiting until more in any given area are completed and they hold some kind of "official" grand reopening? Since they seem to be doing stores somewhat at random (for example since there were only 4 in CT, not doing those 4 as a group)?
CVS bid on it, but the people around it are protesting, saying it needs to stay a grocery store. There is a Walgreens across the street, so they are saying they don't need another drugstore. But there are plenty of locations where two drugstores are close to one another. Plus, they sell a fair amount of food so you could go there for fill in trips and to the Shoprite, which is less than 1.5 miles away for your main shopping.
I'm wondering when the TV stations will start covering this. You'd think it would make a headline at 5:30 or something.

DeleteAnd after all, even if CVS takes over the A&P location there is nothing stopping another supermarket from opening in the area in the future.
DeleteWow, in just a month ACME has entered TWO new states! First New York, now Connecticut. I wonder what the New Canaan store looks like inside.
