Pathmark winding down in Weehawken...

Location: 4100 Park Ave, Weehawken, NJ

These signs are posted all along the service meat counter which has been emptied out. "ALL of US" seems to point out that all of Pathmark's employees are becoming Acme employees. From what I can tell, the two other Acme conversions in the area have kept the entire staff of the former Pathmarks. The employees are also in a much better mood. Super friendly and quick to offer assistance. Not sure if they're just happy to be working for a more stable company or if Acme is drilling it in their heads to be more helpful. Either way, it's a huge win for shoppers, including this one!

Update 10.24.15: Someone didn't like these signs. They've all be taken down.

Shelves are emptying out throughout the store.

Looks like they're just giving up on frozen all together.

You can view more photos of this store in the "Future Acme Markets" post by clicking here.

  1. Wouldn't it make more sense for Acme to take over the store now, close the place down for a few days and do a proper conversion? Then reopen on 11/6/15 fully stocked as an Acme. They could donate surplus product from Pathmark to a local food bank. Sorry but if I walked into this store ready to shop and saw nothing on the shelves I'd leave regardless of what the signs say. 11/6/15 is two weeks from now. That is a long time for customers to walk in and wonder why there is nothing on the shelves. The majority of customers really don't care about the logistics of the transition. They just want a fully stocked grocery. Acme is risking that folks go elsewhere no matter how much better the store might be in the future.

    1. This store is in such a densely populated area it will have no trouble bouncing back once Acme gets the place stocked again.

    2. The store may have needed more work to bring it in line with Acme ideals. For example, it may need a new backroom server system to work with the Acme servers. Converting a store over can be easy if it is a newer store, but if it is an older store, it could take longer. For example in the mirror mirror universe, A&P could have taken over the Clayton Acme, just think about what they would have to do to that one to just make it usable as an A&P.

    3. I think the issue is Acme hasn't taken over the store yet and A&P has no more resources to keep their stores stocked.

    4. I would also think that most people have heard about the A&P bankruptcy issues by now and would understand that whatever conditions they find now are not going to continue once it opens under a new name. Not to mention that any ads will encourage them to check out the "new" location anyhow thus giving Acme the chance to get them back in at least once (and hopefully they like what they see and return repeatedly).

  2. I recall reading that not only is Acme keeping the employees in the stores it is taking over but, in some cases, it is hiring people from stores being closed because many of the A&P stores were understaffed.

    1. Yes I believe that Acme is accepting resumes from stores that are closing. I was in a store that is converting this coming week and I heard them talking about people they are getting from a store that is closing.

    1. I was shopping there today. Completely disagree. The produce was world's better than ShopRite's on their best day.
