Classic Acme — Middletown, Delaware

Photos courtesy of Acme Markets

The current Middletown Acme will be making an appearance on the blog in the near future. For now, we have some classic photos of the former Middletown Acme which have been provided by Acme Markets for our enjoyment! Discussion of the Middletown stores erupted in the commenting section for the Hamilton Square NJ post back in March. One commenter was so interested in seeing pictures of this store, he called up Acme and asked for some.... and here they are. This store no longer stands. It has been torn down and replaced with a new town hall.

  1. WOW!
Acme gave these pictures up??? We know they have Tens of Thousands of vintage Acme photos, perhaps the warm feeling of the holidays will give Acme some thought to releasing some more.

  2. Looks like the fish-eye's up against the brick, like at Egg Harbor City, and most likely Washington.

  4. Andrew, how on Earth did you find that picture? That is a great picture of this store.

Yes, that was me who contacted Acme about seeking pictures. I kindly asked if they knew anything about the store and if they had any pictures. I believe I told them I was working on a model railroad and wanted to make a model after it. They sent those two which they said were the only two they had. I have a crappy quality aerial photo if you'd like it.

I suppose I should get over to the new store which opened in 2003 and get some photos.
