Quality Built In Denville!

Location: 123 East Main Street, Denville, NJ

Acme opened in A&P's very first "fresh" store on October 25, 2015. This store was built back in 2004 on the site of a former Centennial A&P which had been expanded and rebranded as a Sav-a-center.

This may be one store where A&P's décor looked a little better than Acme's Quality Built. Lack of wall space above many of the service departments forced the Quality Built signage to be scaled down.  You can compare some before and afters below....

The Cheese Shop definitely looked better before. Acme replaced this signage with... nothing.

Look closely and you can see the Seafood Department doesn't have the usual frame around the sign. Denville is also a short on the classic black and white photos that are mounted to the walls throughout most stores.

  1. I actually like the new interior to tell you the truth. One thing I don't like is that annoying label scar outside!!! They need to repaint! It looks terrible!

    1. They did repaint it. Used to look a lot worse. Apparently the spackling is eating its way through the paint.

  2. Hopwell Junction, built around the same time has the exact same layout inside.

  3. A&P's loss is Acme Markets gain.......A&P really did have beautiful stores! Too bad their mgmt. team among other things drove them into the ground. When these stores were brand new they were more beautiful than any other chain stores in the NY metro area. Like I said it's Acme's gain, BUT Acme better lower their reugalr prices and compete with SR if they want to remain relevant. I think they can take S&S any day of the week, but the high volume SR stores are no match at this time sadly. C'mon Acme, wake up!

    2. There used to be a bunch of articles online about the opening of the Denville A&P fresh. Can't seem to track any down but this quote is from a Mass Market Retailers article...
"The first A&P Fresh model debuted in Denville, N.J., in 2004, and the company refined the concept in a store located in Midland Park"
