    2. Further evidence that the Acme rumor might carry some weight:

The former Shoprite already has a "deal pending" on it....

    1. I've seen it a few times recently while passing by on I287- they've got a big "COMING SOON" sign in the front windows, but I'm not sure how long they've been at it. Maybe some municipal issue is holding things up?

  5. The Patterson New York store is absolutely gorgeous. Love the decor. So so grand opening sales, but a really beautiful store.

    1. Can you get us some pictures? There's absolutely nothing online about this store.

  6. Danbury CT ShopRite also Opened in the last A&P Superfoodmart a few weeks ago.
Beautiful, clean, bright and low low prices. Owned by the Cingari Family. This was a flagship of sorts for A&P and was one of the biggest "A&P" stores in the chain at 63,000 ft! One of the owners told me they put over 1million into the store because A&P let it go to hell.

  8. I'm in a Meijer right now in Michigan, and it's my first time in one. Let me tell you that we're missing out in NJ without more hypermarkets like this. Think Super Walmart, but with better quality meats, produce, and all other products.

    1. I do appreciate that some people like Meijer, but I don't think we are missing out on anything. I am perfectly happy not purchasing my fresh produce, meats, dairy and all other groceries in the same shop as I go for my daughter's toys or my the mulch for my lawn. I also don't wanna shop in stores the size of football fields.

  9. Update on Chester Springs: The long-awaited remodel may be starting soon! They have permits up in the windows for a beer section now. There was a second legal paper up, which I am assuming was a construction permit. I couldn't get a good look because of the merchandise piled in front. Getting these was probably what was holding them back. The self checkouts won't be going away anytime soon! They replaced the keypads on all of them with chip readers. Another thing I noticed was that they have in-store WiFi now.

    Also some bad news:
The script logo sign has been removed from the old Distribution Center. I have a feeling this was something like the PNB sign Philadelphia lost last year. It was probably just too dangerous to leave it up.

  10. Acme In Moorestown NJ at Young Avenue closed in 2011 has been a part time halloween store but its rumored that Shop Rite or Aldi will take over. Post something in the old Acme? Would love to get a pic
From inside. Ive been able to see through the doors and I think they closed
    Off the deli area.

  11. Maybe Acme style can get the word out there....I am sure that Albertsons knows about this blog....everystore that I googled, Patterson, Brewster, Mahopac, Mohegan, Yorktown, Pleasant Valley only have ONE STAR reviews all with the same complaints, high prices, poor sale prices, bad meat, produce and deli. I really don't think ACME was well received in Northern Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess or Fairfield County Ct......What happened? How did these stores even the brand new Patterson NY store get such a bad rap so quickly??? Acme Markets may have had a glorious past but the future does NOT look bright for these stores by any means. Some had a lot of money dumped into them and some not. What was the point of taking over these A&P stores if they're just going to let them go further downhill. I really don't get it.

  12. Acme has always had a rep for high prices and iffy meat. At least in my area. The delis never were that bad.

But Acme traditionally has been about as high as it gets price wise. Pathmark and A&P weren't much better.

  13. Interesting news on Granite Run:
The store has been remodeled, indicating that it will not be rebuilt with the mall redevelopment. Being one of ACME's top stores, I'm surprised they haven't made much press about it (maybe it hasn't officially reopened yet? The remodel must have just happened, since it still had the old décor in June.) Thankfully, it has the Quality Built look.
