Question for any South Jersey people: I'm planning on taking a bit of a retail road trip sometime in the next couple weeks, ideally going through the south of the state and ending in Atlantic City. Are there any must-see stores out there? I'm going to try to see the ACME's in Mapleshade, Egg Harbor, and Woodstown, along with the former Bradlee's in Bordentown, and the Shore Mall in Egg Harbor City. That's probably a lot to attempt in one day, but I'd love to see as much as possible!

DeleteI would suggest coming to my neck of the woods, The former genuardi's turned acme in barnegat (hour north of atlantic city by taking the garden state parkway)still has some of genuardi's stuff like layout. also the acme in manahawkin may or may not still have the 90s a&p decor from it superfresh days. But I galad to hear your coming to south jeresy we have alot of cool retail stuff
DeleteThe Clayton ACME is a surviving pitched roof store. But it might be a little out of the way. It's well worth it, however.

ReplyDeleteWent to the new Acme on Snyder that opened today. Beautiful store! The aisles are a little on the tight side tho. It is nearly impossible for 2 carts to fit side by side in an aisle. The Frosted Mug and Starbucks are in their own area off of the front of the produce department. And the produce department in this store is quite large and has a large organic selection. The best thing of all, the store has self checkouts! It's a unique store, and Acme did an excellent job! They also had some excellent grand opening deals, like a pack of 30 eggs for 99 cents.

No more Red/White/Blue decor remaining in any Acme stores, as far as I know. Acme on Oxford Ave. and the Clifton Heights location, got the same remodel, the cheap PF&H 3.0 renovation. Does anyone know if there's any more RWB stores out there?
ReplyDeleteI think they are finally starting to make some progress on the front end. I was at the Phoenixville Acme this morning and as soon as lines started forming registers were quickly opening up. 8 registers were open and the 4 self checkouts. However, that came at a price because there were no carts at all for incoming customers, and all of the cart drop offs in the parking lot were overloaded with carts.
ReplyDeleteEven in King of Prussia yesterday almost every register was open and no long lines! Now this is amazing for this store.
I just noticed that SuperValu is now supplying CTown Stores with their Wild Harvest products and I looked online and saw the Wild Harvest logo on the bottom of their website. I don't know if it's all Krasdale or just CTown
ReplyDeleteIt's all Krasdale. Supervalu also supplies the Equaline brand of HABA to Krasdale stores.
DeleteOh fun, SuperValu seems to be doing good business these days, with Krasdale, America's Food Basket ad all these other stores. Good for them, I'm happy as long as they aren't running Acme to the death again
DeleteI decided to stop in the Ideal Marketplace store that took over the old Botany Plaza Pathmark. What struck me is that there was a LOT of Essential Everyday products there. Did Acme sell them off to other stores?

DeleteSuperValu owns and distributes Essential Everyday. They also owned and nearly ruined Acme.
