Classic Acme Red Draft Birch Beer!

  1. I remember drinking this soda many times growing up in Secaucus! Anyone remember Acme's BALA CLUB soda?

  2. In the 1960's, BALA CLUB came in returnable glass bottles, as did many other brands. The store I worked at during summer break while I was in college had one employee whose main job was to sort the returned bottles and get them ready for pickup by the bottlers.

  3. I love birch beer. It's a pretty popular flavor in the Philadelphia area and eastern PA in general. I remember when Acme would run 10 cent sales on their single cans of soda. They were produced by Concord Beverage in Concordville PA. Concord Beverage sold out to Cott, the largest private label bottler in the US. I believe that the Concordville plant still makes Super Chill and Safeway sodas.

  4. yes the concordville plant still produces soda for acme. i see acme's trailers sitting there at their warehouse. i pick up soda there for my employer,weis markets.
