  1. Have you planned to do a post about one of Brown's Shop Rite's? (Brown's Super Stores)

  2. BTW, got any more circulars besides the "Acme Saves You More" one from March 1996, the "Load Crazy Sale" one from September 1994, and the "Great Old American Store Sale" one from September 1993? Let me know!

    1. I'm not sure. I'll have to look. I do have more from the 90's but I think most of them use the same themes you mentioned.

    2. But other than that? Even though they use the same themes, I need them other than the times they are from.

  3. Acme Style guy,
    Could this store have been a 1930s or 1940s American Store/Acme?: http://o2.aolcdn.com/dims-shared/dims3/PATCH/format/jpg/quality/82/resize/393x295/http://hss-prod.hss.aol.com/hss/storage/patch/e7bf5a5489b05e2c13238648adffa83d

Sorry for the double link, I don't know why it looks that way. Here are some Acme stores that I picture as similar: http://pleasantfamilyshopping.blogspot.com/2007/09/acme-clean-bright-and-sparkling-white.html

    1. I would have to say no. The tiles on the front don't look like they've been there since the 40's. I don't know where that wine store is so I can't check the address.

  6. I haven’t seen any mention of the Albertsons data breach that may affect some Acme customers. Details and one year of free identity protection are available here: https://abacquisition.allclearid.com

  7. Ok acme style do I have a bouns store for you. A lot of people have ask to do the one in fairless hills. I think you shound the one in shoprite manahawkin nj . The store was in a training video in the 90s but after 2 major remodels the store is this really cool. The video is called welcome to shoprite. The store moved from down 2 miles down the road, there now a value city or pool store there. There also a former caldor in the shoprite plazza . The building was torn down and is now a lowes. I just think that it would make a good bouns store and old/new store.

    1. I'll check that store out next summer when I go down to see the new Beach Haven Acme. For now, it's too far of a trip for a Bonus Store but thanks for the heads up. I did pass that store just a few weeks ago when I was in LBI.

  8. The store where I work (7715 19th and Oregon) just got done remodeling for beer sales.

"The Frosted Mug" opened Sept 8th. Everything on the front end was rearranged: Cust Service was moved from the site of the beer area to the opposite end by Pharmacy. Eleven registers (with the wave logo) have been installed replacing the former layout that consisted of seven register and six SCOT machines. Deli was also adjusted with some cases/equipment moved around. Some cases were installed in front of Bakery as well.

Throughout all this the Albertsons Marketplace decor has remained intact (was really hoping we would get the new signage like in Devon) however the "Frosted Mug" has the Quality Built style signage.

Speaking of....according to company literature three stores have just finished remodeling "with new decor": Devon (which you covered) Upper Darby and a third store whose name escapes me at the moment. No "Grand Reopenings" that I'm aware of, they just finished it and done.

You made notice in several store post that Self Checkouts (SCOTS) are no longer present in remodels, well that's because the company is getting rid of them in all locations-they view them as too "impersonal" haha.

Finally it seems that Exton and the West Chester store that just closed recently are being used for storage or for "parts" for remodels. During our renovation I read a copy of "meeting minutes" that was left behind one day and they mentioned "moving old SCOT machines to closed Exton store" and "retrieve black shelves for beer area from closed W Chester"

    1. Thanks for all of the details!

I photographed 19th and Oregon a few months ago. Work was just starting on the "The Frosted Mug". At the time I wasn't sure what was going on. They were in the process of tearing down a wall in the front corner of the store.

I also have Upper Darby photographed. They had the Premium Fresh and Healthy 3.0 decor which I would think is the remodel you read about. I can't imagine they have swapped that out already. It would be great if they had. Even with the new decor there the store is a little drab.

Interesting news on Exton and West Chester. Thanks for sharing all of this!

  9. Update to Westtown: Stopped by there again- Looks like they are beginning to gut the place, even though it is still for lease. The wall separating the back rooms and deli was out, as was much of the department ceilings.

  11. The former Rockaway, NJ Acme is going to be replaced by a Nordstrom's Rack outlet store. It sounds like the store is going to be rebuilt from the ground up after damage to the roof.
